This is a free substack about what makes photography the defining medium of our age. I analyse, critique, show-case and question. What turns an image perceived into a photograph worth sharing or a print worth framing and hanging?

The newsletter has a number of sections: ‘Showcase’ showcases (yep) and admires the work of other photographers. ‘Expressive photography’ takes a look at pictures printed through alt-pro techniques. ‘Essays’ critically examine topics in the world of photography. ‘My darkroom practice’ takes you into what I am learning about traditional printing. It’s so rewarding.
